Lesson plan example
Project Happiness Queen's works with schools in the Kingston community to promote well-being and happiness. We create science-based lesson plans that focus on all aspects of well-being such as mindfulness, gratitude and and physical activity.

Below we feature a lesson plan for an elementary school class which introduces ways students can promote happiness in their own lives.
Mindful monday
On mindful Monday, we discussed the concept of mindfulness and brainstormed ways to cope with negative emotions.
Mindful Monday was accompanied with a rainbow breath exercise and a 5 senses calming exercise.

Grati-Tuesday
On Grati-Tuesday we discussed the benefits of practicing gratitude and appreciation.

We asked students to share three things they are grateful for and to draw a picture of someone important in their lives.
wellness wednesday
On wellness Wednesday we introduced the benefits on physical activity. We asked students about their favourite ways to get active, and played a dance video everyone could move along to.
Thoughtful Thursday
On thoughtful Thursday we discussed the concept of selflessness and how doing good can be beneficial to both you and others.

We asked students to make a card for one of their peers in the class.
FREEDOM FRIDAY
On Freedom Friday we introduced the concepts of vulnerability and forgiveness.

We asked students to name time when they've forgiven someone and to discuss how they felt afterwards.
